For years, the designers in this collective have been among the most in-demand in the industry. And among the hardest to reach. At Wondery, they shaped the sound of some of the most recognized series the medium has produced: Dirty John, Dr. Death, Over My Dead Body, Business Wars, Hollywood & Crime, Against The Odds, Imagined Life, and many more. As Wondery became part of Audible and the production landscape evolved, they came together to continue building immersive worlds, now for projects at a wider variety of size and scope, from small independent shows to flagship productions. Through Dovetail, they work together; and they’re taking on new projects.
Our credits extend well beyond podcasting: Emmy-winning immersive audio, scripted audio drama including Aftershock, American Psycho, and Bleak House, major game titles, international installation work, and even critically acclaimed concert music. The range across this group is part of what makes it work.
We're a collective: not a traditional studio with a staff of designers, and not a single freelancer operating under a studio name. That structure is deliberate. It means a client can work closely with one designer whose sensibility fits their project, or draw on the broader team when a production needs more scale, more coverage, or a specific mix of expertise. Working with a company rather than an individual contractor means reliability and accountability that holds across projects. Designers know each other's approaches well, so the handoffs are seamless when the project calls for them. And because we're independent designers who chose to work together, every member of this collective is here because they want to be — which tends to come through in our work.
Sound design is storytelling. It shapes how the listener moves through the story: building atmosphere, directing attention, making scenes feel inhabited and moments feel alive. We think about it the way a writer thinks about pacing, or a director thinks about a scene: what does this moment need, what is the listener feeling right now, and what should they feel next. We approach each project as listeners first, embracing our roles as creative collaborators and storytellers and guiding the audience with intention. When sound design is working best, you may not even notice it. You just find yourself inside the story.
Some clients want a close creative partnership from early in the process; others have a clear vision and need a team that can execute it at the highest level. We work equally well in both directions, and everywhere in between. If you’re looking for audio to elevate your next project, we look forward to hearing from you.
